Zoom. Earth Day lecture to discuss giving legal rights to nature

| 22 Mar 2021 | 03:16

To kick off the SUNY Orange 2021 Earth Month Lecture Series, environmental lawyer Mike Angstadt will speak during a Zoom webinar on Thursday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m.

Angstadt’s lecture will highlight three developments that are being considered in countries around the world:

Efforts to establish special courts that hear only environmental cases;

Efforts to grant legal rights to natural objects such as trees, species, rivers and entire ecosystems; and

Efforts to use domestic courts to address global challenges like climate change.

This event, which is co-sponsored by SUNY Orange Cultural Affairs and SUNY Orange Sustainability, is free and open to the public. To register, visit
