Two dance performances will commemorate Eileen Slawinski

CENTRAL VALLEY — Orange County School of Dance and Little Feet Dance Company will present two different dance performances at the Monroe-Woodbury High School on Sunday, June 10, at Noon and 2:30 p.m. to honor Eileen Slawinski who passed away in January of this year.

She taught for more than 10 years at the school, where she was known as Ms. Eileen.

Featured in the noon performance will be “Maureen,” a dance choreographed by Slawinski for her sister who suddenly passed away in 2010.

The noon show will also include “Mise Rere,” a dance choreographed by Joanna Markowitz and dedicated to her former colleague.

“Heat Lightning” and “Shapeshifters” will feature unusual stage lighting.

“Rich Man’s Frug” and “Baba Yetu” will also be featured in addition to bollywood, pointe, Irish step, ballet, modern, jazz and tap

Other choreographers are Kristen Wesbecher, Michelle DiTroia (a High School of the Performing Arts graduate), Nafisa Manapat (Russian ballet) and Megan Lown.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at the dance school or at the high school the day of the performance.
