Sweet Adelines invite singers to join

Goshen The Song of the Valley Sweet Adelines is ushering in summer by offering a chance for women singers to perform with the chorus at the Great American Weekend in Goshen, on July 2. All women who love to sing are invited to participate. The Performance Opportunity Program (POP) begins with Tuesday chorus rehearsals May 31 through June 28, and culminates in the patriotic performance in Goshen. Rehearsals are currently being held at the Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, Old Little Britain Road, in Newburgh. Song of the Valley has members primarily from Orange County and, also, from Ulster, Sullivan and Dutchess counties. The chorus is part of Sweet Adelines International, the largest women’s singing organization in the world. Their form of a cappella harmony, sung in the “barbershop” style, represents one of the few truly home-grown musical art forms originating in the United States. Participation in the POP carries no obligation. It is simply a chance to learn about the chorus and enjoy free weekly group vocal lessons. The chorus is directed by music director Lisbet Kline. Those interested in participating in the upcoming POP, or who simply want more information about the chorus, should call Rosemary at 446-4345 or June at 227-2853.
