Program of Irish dance and music

    MIDDLETOWN-The Friends of Middletown Thrall Library will host "An Evening of Irish Dance and Music" at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. The show will feature the Champion Step Dancers, Darrah Carr, and Niall O'Leary, along with Joanna Barry and Chris Armstrong and traditional musicians Buddy Connolly on accordian and Peter McKiernan on keyboard and guitar. The program will include information about the history of Irish dance. Darrah Carr served as the assistant choreographer for the TONY-award winning Broadway musical, "James Joyce's The Dead." She and her Dublin-born Irish step dance partner, Niall O'Leary, have performed their duet from Disney World to the Osaka Festival Hall in Japan. Carr is a frequent contributor to Dance Magazine and lectures often on the history of Irish dance. She and O'Leary were recently named two of the "Top 100 Irish Americans of the Year" by Irish America Magazine.
