Jan. 8 concert to celebrate new album release, ‘What Love Is’ WARWICK — Full Armor, one of New York’s religious community’s most prominent Christian music bands, will celebrate the release of its new album, “What Love Is,” with a live concert at St. Stephen’s Church in Warwick. All are invited to attend free of charge on Saturday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. “The What Love Is” album is Full Armor’s third official release since their union in 2005. The band, which includes Tara Lakeman (vocals), Kyle Hancharick (guitar/vocals), Matthew Juliano (drums), Matt Lee (violin) and Douglas Q. Hutchings (keyboards/vocals), began writing and sharing their music at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Middletown just over five years ago, in an effort to advance the spiritual morale of the community. Since, they have gone on to perform in countless churches, conferences and schools down the East Coast, and in April 2008, were one of four bands selected out of 150 by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York to perform at the Papal Youth Rally for Pope Benedict XVI and a crowd of more than 30,000 people. “This album is a new beginning for us,” said the band’s Douglas Q. Hutchings. “Our goal is to continue to create music that offers encouragement and hope to people from all different walks of life, in a way that is inviting, non-judgmental and inclusive for years to come.” Additionally, in recognition of the band’s own Kyle Hancharick, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, at a young age, the album release concert will celebrate the multiple talents and abilities of those with autism and promote social acceptance within the community. “Kyle has played a huge role in the creation of this record,” said Hutchings. “His creative input is something that the autism community should be very proud of. It is a wonderful witness to what God can do in people’s lives.” Attendees of the event will be offered first-come-first-serve seating. Copies of “What Love Is” will be on sale for $10. All proceeds will benefit the band’s continued creation of inspirational Christian music. St. Stephen’s Church is located at 75 Sanfordville Road in Warwick.
