Monroe - On Wednesday, May 25, the Monroe Free Library will feature a talk by World War II veteran Harvey Horn. Free registration is open now for the event, which starts at 7:00 p.m. Horn, a Monroe resident, served in an Army Air Corps bomber squadron based in Foggia, Italy. When his plane was shot down in 1945 over Yugoslavia, he was captured by German soldiers. In his talk, he tells the story of his experiences - including details of his interrogation, solitary confinement, grueling march to Nuremberg and his eventual escape. Horn’s book about his experiences, “Goldfish - Silver Boot,” was published in 2010. Copies will be available for sale at the event (and are available at Amazon.com).
