Lend a hand, plant a tree

Goshen — They’ll dig the holes. You’ll plant the trees. Volunteers are needed for a tree planting project sponsored by the Town of Goshen Environmental Review Board and the state’s Hudson River Estuary Program. The state will provide the trees and shrubs (and those all-important holes). The trees will provide wildlife habitat and shade along streams that have been warmed by stormwater runoff from development. Volunteers should expect to spend about two hours putting in plants, starting at 10 a.m. each day: Saturday, May 21 The Otter Kill at Old Chester Road, east of the Village of Goshen, between the road and the Heritage Trail. Sunday, May 22 Continuation of last year’s work on the Black Meadow Creek, at the Knoell Farm on Knoell Road. For more information or to volunteer, call town hall at 294-6430 ext. 226.
