WARWICK-The Albert Wisner Public Library will present a Mothers' Day Program on Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. The film, Hearts and Hands, will be shown with a quilt display and refreshments immediately following. Several area quilters will be on had to show their works and answer questions about their craft. The film, Hearts and Hands: The Influence of Women & Quilts on American Society, tells the stories of ordinary women as well as individuals such as Harriet Tubman, Elizabeth Keckley, Frances Willard and Abigail Scott Duniway through the great 19th-century events. It emphasizes quilts as a means of revealing the social history of women. The film presents fragments of time, illustrated by needlework, which tell a story of the ultimate triumph of women during a century from which we usually hear few female voices. This library program is open to all residents of the Warwick Valley School District. As seating is limited, the library requests that patrons register by calling 986-1047 or in person at the library.
