NEWBURGH — On March 8, the Christian rock band Full Armor will perform at Mount Saint Mary College’s Aquinas Theatre to benefit Bishop Dunn Memorial School.

Formed in 2005 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Middletown, Full Armor embodies the unusual pairing of virtuous Christian messages heard in churches with upbeat folk/rock melodies inspired by musicians like Paul Simon and Chris Rice.

Among its many concerts both locally and across the Northeast, the band performed during Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to New York in 2008. Full Armor also has upcoming gigs in Ohio and California.

Bishop Dunn is a private Catholic school located on the campus of Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. The school educates students ages pre-K-8 grade, and serves 18 districts from Highland to Hyde Park and is actively involved with Mount Saint Mary’s Education Department in providing a lab school setting for its teachers in training.

“We collaborate with the college in many ways, but this is the first cooperative effort to provide entertainment to the community,” James DelViscio, the principal at Bishop Dunn, said in the press release announcing the benefit concert. “It is really exciting to bring this well-known band to the campus and look forward to seeing a very enthusiastic mix of grade school and college students enjoying the concert together.”

Essential information The concert on Thursday, March 8, begins at 7 p.m.
