Tuxedo Schools thank 'Secret Santas'
In a truly amazing display of generosity and holiday spirit, more than 37 families in the Tuxedo schools community were the recipients of holiday gifts thanks to the efforts of community organizations in Tuxedo and Suffern. I would like to thank all the “Secret Santas” that make the Tuxedo Union Free School District such a special and unique place. I am so thankful for all the volunteers and behind the scenes helpers who have worked hard in shopping, sorting, wrapping and otherwise making sure that our children and families enjoy a special Christmas. The generosity of St. Mary’s Church in Tuxedo Park once again has been truly amazing. If you have every wondered what Santa’s workshop might look like with all of the toys, games and clothes spread about, and elves working feverishly to fill the orders before Christmas - St. Mary’s is it. A special thanks to Reverend Betty McWhorter, Sue Heywood and Dana Roccasecca, as they are the Kris Kringles of the operation. And just as we thought it couldn’t get any better, our George F. Baker National Honor Society members were invited by Tuxedo School Board Member Dr. David Kaufer to assist packing holiday packages in a packed Suffern Community Center - altogether more than 1,000 families in the region benefitted from donated gifts in this effort. The energy and Christmas spirit at the community center was magical. Christmas miracles have come in many shapes and forms, not only to the families in our schools, but also to the larger community family because of the effort and teamwork of Dr. David Kaufer and Chief Clarke Osbourne of the Suffern Police Department. We are inspired with all of the gift-giving. The amount of people lending a hand proves people are good at heart throughout all of the holiday hoopla. Finally, we are overwhelmed by the families’ happy faces and words of gratitude as we drop off holiday gifts. No material gift equates to thanks - it’s priceless. Best wishes for the many blessings of the season to all. Kelly Fosstveit Tuxedo Schools Intervention Specialist
