Support the Equal Rights Amendment

Did you know that the U.S. Constitution does not state that men and women are equal under the eyes of the law? Or that the Equal Rights Amendment, which would correct this omission, was in fact not added to the Constitution because it was only ratified by 35 of the necessary 38 states before the June, 1982 deadline? Many people don’t realize that gender equality is not yet a part of our Constitution. But did you know that there are currently bills in front of Congress that could rectify this situation? Resolutions in both the Senate and the House of Representatives would allow Congress to once again approve the ERA and put it to the states for ratification. An even better opportunity is House Resolution 47, which would abolish the deadline from the last time the ERA was up for ratification. This would mean that only three more states would have to approve the Equal Rights Amendment. I’m asking every elected official and citizen that reads this letter to please support the Equal Rights Amendment. Together, we can make sure the Constitution provides equality to both men and women.
