Steven Milligram announces his campaign for Monroe Town Justice
My name is Steven Milligram, and I write to announce my candidacy for Town Judge of the Town of Monroe. I have been a practicing attorney for 30 years, and over that time came to learn that one of the greatest difficulties people face when they appear in our courts is the time it takes for their case is heard. Throughout my career I have appreciated the truth of the phrase “justice delayed is justice denied,” and my goal as your town judge is to ensure that justice will not be delayed. I have lived in Orange County for more than 15 years, am married to a wonderful woman and have four great children and one incredible grandchild. In our community I have coached PTA basketball, Little League baseball, Pop Warner Football and served as president of Pop Warner. I am one of the founding members of the South Orange Family YMCA, known to all as SOFY, Advisory Committee which helped bring the Y to Monroe. Presently, I am the lawyer coach to Monroe-Woodbury High School’s Mock Trial competition team. I am a former president of the Orange County Bar Association and member of the Executive Committee of the Council of Bar Leaders in the State of New York. I started my career as an assistant district attorney in Bronx County where I tried approximately 75 cases, including the most serious drug felony cases. Leaving there, I began representing clients in a variety of civil cases including representing hospitals and doctors in our community against malpractice claims, automobile accident cases, slip and fall cases, cases involving defective products, and landlord and tenant matters. In 1991, I joined my present firm, and expanded my practice to include defending municipalities and police departments. I am fortunate to have a multi-faceted practice which has exposed me to many areas of law and, more importantly, with people from all walks of life. It seems that our court system sometimes loses sight of the fact that every single case impacts the people involved. I have kept this in mind on every case I handle. A judge’s job is to dispense fair, equal, and prompt justice. That is my goal if I am chosen as your Judge. I hope you agree, and choose me to be your town judge for the Town of Monroe on Nov. 8. Thank you, Steven I. Milligram Monroe
