Neighbors helping neighbors in Woodbury

It’s often said that there isn’t enough time or space to fit in all of the “thank yous.” Nonetheless, we’re going to try. Woodbury is a town of about 11,000 residents but when our neighbors are in need, we, time after time, stand as one. The response to those who have suffered from the hurricane and tropical storm has been incredible and overwhelming - clothes, food, gift cards, money, and time have been donated by so, so many. In addition to the Woodbury Community Association, who sponsored the recent fund raiser, and all those in the organization to helped put together and cook at the event, the Woodbury Lions Club has been extraordinarily generous with their time and funding. And Colleen Pearce of Jay’s Deli has, as she always is, been there for our community every step of the way, providing countless meals to those who needed them. With donations still coming in, we raised more than $20,000 for our neighbors, a testament to the ceaselessly caring spirit of our town - every single dollar will go to helping those individuals and families in Woodbury who lost so much to the storms. Thank you to every single person who donated to the cause: you are what make our community so great. And, in addition to the aforementioned, thank you to each of the following for all you have done over the past month: Beverly Powell and the Highland Mills United Methodist Church Pastor Jessica Anschutz and the Central Valley United Methodist Church St. Patrick’s Church Central Valley Elementary School and Mary Beyer Cafe Fiesta DePalma Drive Kids Lourdes Memoli and the PTA Tim Arone Mary Porcu Beth and Rocco Guglielmello Camryn Stella, Becky Heady, Jessica Wendoloski and Ciara Cain Mike Chirichella Amidee Haviland Bruce Perone and Band Joey Gianzero, Fran Jack and the Parks Department Highland Mills Fire Company Woodbury Police Benevolent Association Ben Meyers, Woodbury Gazette Nancy Kriz and Bob Quinn, The Photo News YourSport Skyline Chimney Sweep Northern Windows H.
