Another November is upon us. We have been hit with several challenges lately. I hope everyone is faring well Nov. 11 is a day to be remembered. I asked some children why they had off on the 11. Only one was able to tell me. I hope we all explain the importance of this day off to anyone that does not realize what it is celebrating. Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. This day is to honor everyone who has done military service. It is a day to give our respect and admiration to all. Some veterans may not have seen combat but their job and sacrifice is still very important and needs to be acknowledged. No matter what our politics are, we should respect the uniform of those who serve. These are extraordinary people who are loyal and dedicated. We need to thank them for the freedom we are enjoying. The price for such freedom is at times very high. The Monroe Girl Scout Community Soldier Support Day on Saturday, Nov. 19, honoring our military at Sapphire Elementary School in Harriman. The girls will be collecting items to send those serving overseas. You can help us be successful. The donations will be distributed to soldiers of families in our area and to anysoldier.com where anyone can adopt a soldier to send to or write to for the holidays and future times. I can explain the process on the 19. This helps all soldiers who may not have family members that can send items of need and comfort. Please help put a smile on their faces. Thank you, Kathy Aldinger Teacher at Pine Tree School in Monroe Anysoldier.com contributor
