Woodbury Spring Cleaning: 150 volunteers, 20 cubic yards of garbage, one community

| 07 May 2012 | 03:55

We would like to thank the over 150 volunteers of all ages who came out to our third annual Woodbury Spring Cleaning Day two weekends ago and the countless community groups, organizations and local businesses who helped make the event a tremendous success.

The cleanup seems to grow every year which truly is a testament to our town’s spirit of volunteerism and community care.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we picked up over 20 cubic yards of garbage from our roadsides - a considerably large number that we are now all responsible for keeping off our roadsides.

In particular, we would like to thank the following businesses and individuals who contributed funds and materials to the day:

YourSport, Northern Windows, Keller Williams/Chris Scibelli, Jay’s Deli, Active Towing & Recovery and Skyline Lawn Care & Chimney.

Also, Sweep D.O.C. Cleaning Services, the Arone Family, ADG Reality/Kevin Abrams, Home Depot, Walmart and BJ’s Wholesale Club.

Also Mojo Beverage and Bread, Woodbury Common, Highland Mills Fire Company, Central Valley Fire Company, Reynolds Oil, Woodbury Chamber of Commerce and Gary Weyant Lawn Care.

It’s so important to always support our local businesses who constantly support us.

And, finally, recognition is also due to the members of the Environmental Conservation Committee and Highway Department for their help in organizing the day.

Thank you to everyone who came out to keep our town a clean and green one and we’re already looking forward to next year.

    Rob Weyant Woodbury Highway Superintendent
