Principals who go above and beyond

Unfortunately in our society today, people tend to complain rather than complement one another. We look for faults in them, force our beliefs on them and correct them whenever we get the opportunity.

I am going to make a change that will hopefully trickle down to everyone that we come in contact with.

I have two children that attend the Monroe-Woodbury School District. They have been in this school district for four years. Prior to this, they attended the Nanuet School District. Years before that, they attended the Clarkstown School District. Finally, prior to that, they went to Catholic preschool in Rockland. They have traveled through different school districts quite a bit.

In addition, I have been fortunate enough to be exposed to numerous principals and assistant principals.

By having all this exposure to various administrative people, I have come to appreciate outstanding people when I see them.

Eric Hassler and Michael Barone of Central Valley Elementary School are in a class of their own. They are caring, nurturing and fair with every student they interact with. They are enthused about all the special events in the school, students’ progress, and the PTA.

I believe that when Mr. Hassler and Mr. Barone joined Central Valley the mold was broken. We need more administrators who are genuinely concerned for the children and their success.

By the way, they know the names of all the students they speak with. They have set an example that others need to follow.

I am extremely lucky that my children had the opportunity to get to know what wonderful administrators as well as people Mr. Hassler and Mr. Barone are.
