November 7th

I want to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers of United Monroe for stepping up when no one else did. I would like to thank them for their dedication, bravery and voices.
If it weren't for the grass roots organization of United Monroe, we would have 507 acres of Monroe land sitting in Kiryas Joel right now. We would also still have Harley Doles with a majority on our town board. We would have high density housing on the 507 acres, and no chance for a Kiryas Joel separation.
Thanks to my fellow citizens and volunteers in United Monroe, Kiryas Joel came to the table, and they filed a petition to separate from Monroe. Why? Because they have been sued by the volunteers of United Monroe which gave the leaders of United Monroe the leverage to negotiate a compromise.
We should all be thanking the leaders and hard working volunteers of United Monroe for literally saving our town and school district.
I urge my fellow citizens of Monroe to get out and vote on November 7th for the United Monroe line of candidates, and to vote Yes on the Kiryas Joel separation referendum on the back of your ballot.
It's the least we can all do to thank our fellow citizen volunteers for the sacrifices they have made over the past five years for us.
    Sincerely,
    M. Ruiz
    Monroe
