MW PTA Council supports proposed school budget
I am writing this letter on behalf of the MW PTA Council, to express our support for the proposed 2012-13 Monroe-Woodbury school budget! During the last few months leading up to now, we have witnessed the dedication of the Board of Education and the administration to the children and taxpayers of our district. They have spent many months developing this spending plan and we believe that the Board and the Superintendent have done a great job.
This budget is honestly balanced and sensitive to the needs of tax payers with a budget to budget increase of less than 1 percent and a tax levy of only 0.89 percent. This budget allows us to keep all of our high quality programs that we as parents have come to expect from Monroe-Woodbury.
Equally as important, this budget maintains our current staffing levels which preserve our children s teachers.
Overall, the budget increases from year-to-year have slowed dramatically in this school district and we believe this has saved the taxpayers in our community millions of dollars. This is obviously the result of careful financial planning with an eye on setting future goals that maintain our curriculum and opportunities for our children. We will be supporting the budget this year because we believe it is in the best interest of our students and taxpaying community.
Personally, as a resident and parent of two children in this district, I believe the proposed budget is responsible to the taxpayers.
I would also encourage voters to support the incumbent school board candidates, Mrs. Eleni Carter and Mrs. Natalie Brooks. It is through their hard work and ethics that this budget has been developed.
I will also be supporting Mr. John Otero as an important addition to the Board.
I consider these individuals leaders in our community and I trust them to continue the successful path and tradition at Monroe-Woodbury.
