Monroe’s Memorial Day Parade returns

| 12 May 2021 | 02:40

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Village of Monroe is honored to announce this year’s Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

Due to the pandemic, we canceled the 2020 parade; however, the veteran organizations of Monroe and Harriman quietly honored those members of the military who died in the line of duty to their country.

This reverent and inspiring ceremony was captured on video and is available at https://fb.watch/5jEDwB-Dv0/.

The pandemic restrictions over the last 14 months have impacted our community greatly, with businesses, restaurants, schools, civic groups, scouts and extra-curricular activities bearing the brunt of it all.

This year’s parade is being organized with a plan for social distancing to ensure the safety of all participants.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by members of the military, we respectfully ask that we, as a community, gather to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

We are appealing to all organizations to join us as we march through the Village of Monroe.

Whether you are part of a veteran organization, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, social club, athletic club, extra-curricular club, we invite you to honor those who have sacrificed so “that others may live.”

As we emerge from the cloud of COVID, let’s gather in a safe and respectful way. Any questions can be directly to our wonderful group of volunteers by contacting Jennifer Gillett at jennifer.gillett@randrealty.com or text or call 845-699-4251, or Village of Monroe Clerk at clerk@villageofmonroe.org, 845-782-8341 x121.

As always, I am available to you at mayor@villageofmonroe.org.

We look forward to seeing you all on the parade route and are truly grateful for your attention to this very important event.

Respectfully,

Mayor Neil Dwyer
