Mayor Purcell backs Eppinger and Gormley for re-election
As mayor of the Village of Monroe, I am honored to write this letter of support for trustees Melinda MacDonald Gormley and Frank Eppinger for their re-election bid.
As we all know there is an election coming up here in the village on March 20 at Village Hall.
Melinda and Frank are two wonderful individuals to work with and the village is lucky to have such dedicated elected official working for its residents. Melinda and Frank work extremely well with the rest of the village board and employees for making changes in the day-to-day operations for efficiency and cost savings to the village, such as the creation of RFP proposals for our insurance carrier and banks.
They have worked with the board in streamlining utility costs and participated in the grants the village has been seeking. They also are part of the boards efforts to create the comprehensive committee to streamline the process for business and the development of properties here in the village at a lower costs.
Melinda and Frank worked together as a negotiating committee in the DPW contracts. With Franks background as a bank analyst, Melinda and Frank were able to negotiate a fair and equitable contract for both the DPW employees and the village constituents without sacrificing the services we all expect and at a minimal cost.
Melinda is also on the activities committee helping to create more community functions which help bring the community together and bring awareness of what is available to the community through this venture between government and local businesses
This committee is a volunteer group made up of village residents, business owners and elected officials. What the committee has accomplished is amazing: The summer concert series, handling of the 4th of July, and the painting of the downtown for Halloween; many more activities are planned for 2012.
Frank has been instrumental with projecting future costs and working on the village budget, due to his experience as a bank analyst for 20 years and as a past treasurer of the Mombasha Fire Company.
Melinda and Frank bring a lot of diversity to the board, with Melinda being a stay-at-home mom and Frank being a senior. They each have a lot at stake in the outcome of the village in which they live.
We still have a lot more to do for the future of the village of Monroe. With the great team work of Melinda and Frank, myself and the rest of the Village Board and its employees, we will be able to meet the goals and objectives to make the Village of Monroe the jewel of Orange County.
James C. Purcell, mayor Village of Monroe
