'Let representative government and civil dialogue once again return to our hometown'

A recent Times Herald-Record article on the formation of a new village in Monroe refers to United Monroe’s belief that the petitioners must first seek relief for their grievances at an open forum.
While I applaud the concept of an open public forum, UM is the last group to preach to anyone about “open forums." If you recall, United Monroe negotiated a back room deal on Palm Tree without one elected representative from our town at the table, which created this new mess in the first place.
I truly believe at its inception United Monroe meant well, but unfortunately it was their divisive platform, driven by political revenge and personal attacks, which has ultimately lead to the onset of collapse for this organization.
It’s time now to move forward here in Monroe. Let representative government and civil dialogue once again return to our hometown.
