'John Scherne is the only qualified candidate running for Highway Superintendent in this month’s Republican Primary'

For over three and a half years I have had to opportunity to work alongside Monroe Highway Superintendent John Scherne. I have watched as John has developed into a wonderful Highway Superintendent.
From the day he took office the morale of the department, after being nonexistent for many years, not only was reborn, but rose to an exceptionally high level.
John has exemplified what community spirit is and his positive attitude toward the Town of Monroe is beyond measure. Within months of taking over the reins, John initiated a conversation which enabled us to receive a N.Y.S. grant for $275,000 targeted for a new street sweeper. His work during the grant process was exemplary.
He has helped increase revenues in the Highway Department, improved efficiency and saved $80,000 in road salt costs.
He has developed maintenance programs in house which saved hundreds of thousands of dollars and created a better working relationship with surrounding municipalities, such that when projects arise we can make a call and assistance will be there for us immediately.
He has been working with the Town Board on many of these initiatives and communication has always been impeccable.
John also created an in house water department with the use of present employees, saving more than $110,000 per year in costs.
• John Scherne is the only qualified candidate running for Highway Superintendent in this month’s Republican Primary.
• John Scherne is the only candidate with a CDL running for Highway Superintendent in this month’s Republican Primary.
• John Scherne is the only candidate that will save the town money who is running for Highway Superintendent in this month’s Republican Primary.
• John Scherne is the only Republican candidate endorsed by the Town of Monroe Republican Committee who is running for Highway Superintendent in this month’s Republican Primary.
• And finally, John Scherne is the only candidate running for Highway Superintendent in this month’s Republican Primary, who has and will continue to keep our roads in Monroe safe in a cost-efficient manner.
I will be casting my vote for John Scherne on June 25. I hope you will as well.
All registered Republican residents in the Village of Monroe or the Town of Monroe are eligible to vote in the Republican Primary.
