The following comments were posted on stories that have appeared recently in The Photo News:

The story about the effort by U.S. Rep Nan Hayworth to designate the U.S. Post Office in Monroe in honor of Gregg Wenzel, a Monroe native who was killed in the line of duty in the 2003 while working for the Central Intelligence Agency in Ethiopia, prompted these remarks:

From Grateful American: Thank you for your honorable service, your deep dedication, your unselfish love and your hope for our future. May your family have peace and reap the rewards of the good seeds that you planted. They were blessed to have known you and we are all in your debt. The fabric of America is made with your strength and courage. God bless you dearly. You are irreplaceable.

From Harley Doles: To the Wenzels: You are the parents of a hero. You instilled what being a patriot is truly about. Your son learned to love from you and he in turn learned to love America in a way that few can imagine. I tell my triplets about your son and how you raised him to have courage and always make your parents proud. Your son’s memory lives in many parents’ hearts as what we hope our children could possibly be. G_d bless your family. The love you gave you son passes on in his memory with every hello, warm embrace and gentle smile you bring when those fortunate bump into you.

A story about young parishioners at Sacred Heart Church who were helping raise money for the program that provides healthy summer lunches for children in need brought this response:

One proud grandmother: It sure does bring back your faith in human kind to see these kids willingly do for others and their church. Hooray for these kids! Some adults should take note and practice what they see these kids doing. Wouldn’t this world be so much better if everyone did one little thing to help others? God bless them and all who assisted them!

A letter to the editor in support of Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt prompted a correction and a comment:

Darrell McElroy: I would like to make a correction to the Editor’s Note: Annie Rabbitt is in the new 98th Assembly District. She is currently in the old 97th District. Her new district covers Deerpark, Port Jervis, Minisink, Greenville, Warwick, Monroe, Tuxedo, and Ramapo.

I wish her luck and I, too, will miss the opportunity to vote for her re-election as she no longer represents Wallkill.
