A knee jerk reaction

The recent controversy about Legoland prompted a knee jerk initial reaction from me.
KJ's opposition to the project prompted my immediate favorable feeling toward.
However, upon some reflection, I realize that the Goshen area residents and all of Orange County must assess all of the implications raised by this project.
I resented my first take because it reflected my frustration with the current state of affairs in our area.
We live in an era where the average citizen is not considered in the due process of government.
Where else could a political entity have signs outside of its community citing the kinds of dress required by all?
If local towns around KJ passed requirements that black white uniforms with exposed prayer garments were not welcome, what would be the consequence of such actions?
KJ gives its voters “suggested” voting cards; votes in a bloc; builds a pipeline that disrupts is neighbors expands its size; and still has not point of entry or exit.
Yet, they are arrogant and confident enough to tell Goshen what to do with regard to Legoland.
This issue and its implications was magnified when my wife recently went to the Town of Chester offices to inquire about some clear cutting done on Laroe Road.
She was told to fill out a Freedom of Information form and submit it.
    Where is the transparency?
KJ uses LLC's, lobbyists and political power to achieve its goals.
Religion is not a factor in this because they are a political movers and shakers.
Our local, county and state officials have failed us.
Our Founding Fathers did not envision a professional political class. George Washington set the precedent of serving two terms and after FDR, we passed an amendment to limit a president to two terms or 10 years.
We now have politicians on every level gorging themselves at the public trough.
If the President has term limits so should all other officials. Any Orange County Legislator serving more than ten years should be out.
Under your watch, our county has deteriorated with such issues as KJ, Valley View, the Government Center, infrastructure and public service abuses.
We consistently do not hear from legislators, except to raise their salaries.
I believe history is cyclical and change can be on its way. At a recent visit to the Truman Library, I was taken by President Truman's clarity.
We need leaders, especially at the local level, who are clear on their goals and act on them.
Sean Patrick Maloney failed to exceed the deplorable representation of Nan Hayworth in addressing the needs of Orange County.
Mr. Truman had a sign on his desk: “The Buck Stops Here."
I am searching for leaders who will stand for something and provide their constituents with policies for which they are accountable.
