A call to action: The Crusader Community Coalition
A coalition has been formed in the Monroe Community called the Crusader Community Coalition. The goal of this coalition is to combat the illegal use of drugs and underage drinking and will focus on awareness, education, support and prevention to help promote a healthy and drug free community.
Our first meeting was held on Nov. 14, 2017, and was well attended by a motivated group of people with the common interest of making our Monroe-Woodbury community a better place for our youth and beyond. T
The coalition meets once per month and attendance continues to grow.
Who is the coalition?The coalition is comprised of members from the following organizations: Monroe-Woodbury High School, Monroe Police Department, Sacred Heart Church, Monroe Village Board and a handful of parents, businesses and other community members who’ve committed their time to help make our goal a reality.
The Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County, along with the National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, are guiding the coalition toward our goals.
Next: Feb. 26Our next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. The meetings are approximately 90 minutes long.
We are looking for more members to join our coalition and do positive things for our community. If anyone is interested in committing to 90 minutes a month, please join us and our mission.
'Sticker Shock' logo and campaignWe have a “Sticker Shock” campaign/event planned for March. The sticker shock campaign is our first event toward underage drinking awareness and prevention.
Our team will go out into the community and place customized stickers in areas where alcohol is purchased.
The Crusader Community Coalition (C3) will be having a logo design contest for the coalition’s new logo. The logo should represent the Monroe-Woodbury community and its beauty. Originality and creativity are encouraged. Submissions can be dropped off at the Monroe Police Department between Feb. 2 and Feb. 16.
