Join me in the fight against cancer

To the Editor: This year, over 1.4 million Americans will hear the words “You have cancer.” I know too many people who are touched by cancer, and that is why I have joined the American Cancer Society on a mission to save lives by participating in the Relay for Life in Goshen. At Relay for Life we celebrate loved ones who have won their battle against cancer, remember those who are no longer with us, and fight back against this disease that touches so many. I am determined to make a difference, and I hope you will join me. I will be walking on June 18. Governments, faith-based institutions, and the strategic philanthropic efforts of socially responsible businesses, despite their best intentions, all too often, fall short of meeting important needs like finding a cure for cancer. Famed anthropologist, Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can make a difference. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Today, these words still ring true with perhaps a greater and sense of purpose and call for action than ever before. Please, join my small group of concerned citizens and support me in my efforts by using the link below to visit my personal web page and make a small donation. Every donation brings us closer to a cure and to a time when hearing the words “you have cancer” will be a thing of the past.
