Jim Gulick states his case for Monroe Highway Superintendent
My name is Jim Gulick, and I am the current Monroe Highway Superintendent. This year I will be running to continue in this role. My name will appear on the Democratic line and the Protect Monroe line. This past year as Highway Superintendent has been both challenging and rewarding, and I look forward to continuing the path I have started on with the betterment of the Town of Monroe as my goal. My philosophy has always been to accomplish my goal the most efficient and effective way possible. During my first year in office I was able to accomplish this in the following ways: Ensured all roads remained safe and open during one of the worst winters experienced by the town. Provided rapid response to various road emergencies throughout the year, as well as in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, including flood response, removal of down trees, and emergency road repair. In the process of rebuilding and replacing aging culvert piping and catch basins, which will provide better drainage and safer roadways for the town. Generated additional revenue for the highway department by selling unused equipment, trucks, and tools. Revenue that will help save taxpayer dollars. Developed a proactive and more effective approach for treating the roadways that will be implemented for future snow and ice storms, which will help improve safety, save taxpayer dollars, while being better for the environment. Thank you for all of your support. Please come out and vote on Nov. 8. Jim Gulick Monroe
