Jennifer Trumper announces her bid for re-election to BOE
I am writing this letter to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve as your representative to the Board of Education. The last three years have proved to be very challenging for our school district. We have had to deal with difficult economic conditions and decreasing state aid as well as a need to raise student achievement and mastery for all children in our schools. I believe, through the leadership of the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education, we have made great strides in these areas. As a member of the Board of Education, I have worked with my fellow board members, the administration, teachers and staff to deliver the lowest tax levy in more than two decades, all while preserving the educational excellence that is the standard of the Monroe-Woodbury schools. I am proud to say that I graduated from Monroe -Woodbury and my husband and I have chosen to live in this community as our children are beginning their education in this wonderful district. Monroe-Woodbury provided me with the solid educational foundation that I needed to succeed. I attended college at the State University of New York at Binghamton and graduated with a bachelor of science in business management and information systems. I have had a very successful career in the technology industry, implementing IT solutions to financial institutions throughout the country. I recognize the importance for accountability in leadership and I understand the importance of earning and maintaining the public trust. I have proven myself to be a successful board member and leader, capable of making sound decisions while balancing what is best for students within the economic reality for our taxpayers. Three years ago, the voters of this community elected me, along with Mrs. Eleni Carter and Mr. Wayne Chan and asked us to bring about change and accountability to our school district. Our work is not over and we know there is much more to do. While the fiscal future of New York State and the Nation remains unclear and mandated educational standards will once again be modified, one thing is certain: We must continue to provide all children with a quality education, rich in diversity, that will propel them into the 21 century. I have the experience to be a strong and positive leader for the district and ask that you support my candidacy, as well as those of Mrs. Eleni Carter and Mr. Wayne Chan on Election Day, Tuesday, May 17. Sincerely, Jennifer Trumper Candidate for the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education
