Girl Scout Troop 334's father/daughter dance raises $500 for Japanese relief effort
On Friday, May 6, Woodbury Girl Scout Troop 334 hosted a Father/Daughter Fun Night at Central Valley Elementary School for the Woodbury Unit. Troop’s members Jillian and Jennifer Stevens, Julia and Kathleen Silverstein, Ava Bagley, Morgan Farrow and Maddie Santoro planned an evening of fun games and activities for dads and daughters to take part in. We are so happy to report that the evening was a smashing success! We’d like to take an opportunity to share our thanks and appreciation with all the people who made this evening possible. First, we want to acknowledge Woodbury Girl Scout Troop 798. These super young ladies came in to help set up and run the night’s events. Working along side Troop 334, these ladies truly demonstrated what it means to be a Girl Scout. Not only was their help priceless to the success of the evening, the example they set for the younger girls was inspiring. Thank you so very much. Of course, we also need to recognize the community businesses for their generous donations. They are: Jay’s Deli of Highland Mills, Hannaford of New Windsor, Party City of Monroe, the Monroe BJ’s, Monroe Farms, Stop-n-Shop of Monroe, ShopRite of Monroe and Gary Corts of Fort Knox in Central Valley and www.idonategoods.com. Your generosity was essential and we want you to know just how much everyone enjoyed their time - time which you all made possible. Last, but certainly not least, we’d like to thank all the dads and daughters for coming out and spending the evening with us. We hope you had a memorable time and we want you to know how much we appreciated your patience and flexibility going through the night. We had practically double the amount of people come out this year than in the past few years. So, while the higher turn out was very welcomed, it was not anticipated at all. So again, thanks for being so understanding. It was a pleasure to host this evening for you and to see you all have so much fun. Finally, the biggest accomplishment of the night was the Troop’s service project. Due to the enormous, overall success of the evening, the Troop will be donating $500 to the Girl Scouts of Japan Relief Efforts Fund, an amount more than imagined when the planning of this event began. Again, our sincerest thanks and appreciation to all. Julie Stevens and Jane Silverstein Troop #334 leaders
