Amidee Haviland seeks re-election to Woodbury Town Board
Four years ago, I had the honor of introducing myself to the community of Woodbury as a fellow resident for more than 20 years; a U.S. Army veteran of 28 years of combined Active and Reserve Duty; a member of the Monroe-Woodbury Soccer Club for more than eight years; an individual who has had more than 30 years of public service as an officer in the Army and as a purchasing manager for Metro-North Railroad; and as a candidate for Councilman for the Woodbury Town Board. At that time, I promised that I would help in providing the services and infrastructure that the residents of Woodbury expect for their money while, at the same time, not to be taxed out of the community. I also promised to keep our boundaries intact by using the then popular phrase of “not one inch.” You believed in what I said and, as proof, you elected me to the Town Board along with my compatriots Carlton Levine, also as Councilman, and John Burke as Supervisor. For that, we are most grateful. For the next four years, we kept our promises by improving the town’s roads immeasurably and are continuing to improve them; increased Woodbury’s financial rating resulting in our ability to acquire cheaper loans, when needed; decreased the town’s overall debt by 15-25 percent; increased government accountability through internal and external audits; fearlessly entered the courts to resist any and all intrusions to our community; and submitting yearly budgets that have resulted in little to no tax levy increases to the residents of Woodbury while, at the same time, not decreasing services in terms of personnel and resources. The time has now come to inform the people of Woodbury that I, Councilman Amidee Haviland, along with Councilman Carlton Levine and Supervisor John Burke seek re-election so that we may continue to represent you on the Town Board and to continue our efforts to make this community the jewel of Orange County. Come Nov. 8, please vote for Councilman Amidee Haviland on either the Democratic or Independence ticket, Councilman Carlton Levine on either the Democratic, Independence,or Working Families ticket, and Supervisor John Burke on either the Democratic, Independence or Conservative ticket. Keep a good thing going. Amidee T. (Bo) Haviland III, Councilman Town of Woodbury
