YWCA offers eight-week training program in skilled labor for women beginning Oct. 14
New Windsor This fall, women can greatly increase their household income by building skills to help them enter higher paying, nontraditional jobs. The YWCA’s Women’s Work Job Preparedness Training is an eight-week course, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 4. The course will equip women with the basic skills necessary for skilled labor positions, such as using small power tools or working with ladders. The course will also expand their knowledge of the opportunities available to women in skilled labor occupations. According to the YMCA press release announcing the program, “Too often, women without advanced educational opportunities end up in minimum wage jobs in health care or retail with little chance for significant pay increases or promotions. However, men without advanced degrees more typically enter skilled trade careers with higher incomes and greater opportunities for advancement. YWCA’s Women’s Work is dedicated to ending this disparity and expanding women’s opportunities to be economically self-sufficient.” Women’s Work is free; however, space is limited. To register, contact Danielle Marse-Kapr at 845-561-8050 ext. 17 or Danielle@ywca-orangecty.org.
