Schools will be closed Monday, Sept. 6, in observance of Labor Day. Smith Clove and Sapphire Elementary Schools will hold Kindergarten Open House at their respective schools on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 7 p.m. Central Valley PTA will meet Wednesday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday, Sept. 9 and 10, in observance of Rosh Hashanah. Classes will resume Monday, Sept. 13. Smith Clove and Sapphire Elementary Schools will hold Grade 1 Open House at their respective schools on Monday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree Elementary Schools will hold Grades 2/3 Open House at their respective schools on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 7 p.m. High School Mini-college Day will be held Wednesday, Sept. 15, 9:35 - 10:50 a.m. Smith Clove PTA will meet Thursday, Sept. 16, 9:30 a.m. Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree Elementary Schools will hold Grades 4/5 Open House at their respective schools on Thursday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m. Sign up for M-W gym use at Sept. 15 meeting CENTRAL VALLEY — The Monroe-Woodbury School District will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., in the Education Center Conference Room, on Route 32, in Central Valley, to determine the scheduling of the district’s gymnasiums for the 2010-2011 fall and winter sports season. Any community group or team that wishes to use the district’s gymnasiums should submit a request at this meeting. For information, call Jeffrey T. Back-to-school supply drive continues through Sept. 3 Greenwood Lake — Vincent Corrado of Greenwood Lake, a senior at George F. Baker Tuxedo High School, is collecting back-to-school supplies through Friday, Sept. 3, for underprivileged children of Greenwood Lake as part of his annual outreach project, “Back-to-School Basics.” Donated supplies can be dropped off at the Greenwood Lake Public Library during regular operating. All donated items will be delivered to the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry on Saturday, Sept. 4, for the beginning of the new school year. Suggested items for donation are: loose leaf paper, pencils, erasers, pens, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, one-, two-, three-, and five-subject notebooks, book bags, tape, book covers, marble composition notebooks, dictionaries, pocket folders, scissors, hand-operated pencil sharpeners, staplers, staples, report covers, binders and binder subject separators. Auditions to be held Sept. 25 for ‘Nutcracker’ Newburgh — The Orange County Ballet Theater is holding auditions for dancers in the Hudson Valley region for its annual production of “The Nutcracker.” Auditions will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, at The Darlene Wilson Institute of Dance, located at 136 Lakeside Plaza, Suite 3B, in Newburgh.
