Scholarship available through Community Foundation Montgomery — The Ian Bennett/Situation Cares Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 is available to graduating seniors who attend an Orange County public, private, or parochial high school, and plan to attend college upon graduation. The scholarship will be awarded to one student. Bennett was a Cornwall native who was a gifted graphic artist who lost his life in a pedestrian accident in 2007. The scholarship fund was established by Bennett’s family, friends and co-workers at Situation Interactive in Manhattan to honor his life. Candidates must submit three examples of their art, which may be in the form of design, music and/or performing arts and write an essay of no greater than three pages, explaining how they have demonstrated a desire for success in both their personal and academic lives. All submissions must be made electronically. Interested candidates should contact their respective guidance offices for further details to apply. Catholic Daughters to award $500 scholarship Greenwood Lake - The Catholic Daughters of Court Holy Rosary will present a high school senior from the Greenwood Lake School District a $500 scholarship based on spiritual, community and high school service. Applications are available in the guidance offices of Tuxedo High School, Burke Catholic, Orange/Ulster BOCES and the Greenwood Lake Library Completed applications must be postmarked by June 1. Monroe Temple preschool events MONROE — The Monroe Temple’s preschool has several upcoming events taking place: The Mentsch Makers pre-school registration for the 2011-2012 School Year is now taking place. “Mentsch Makers in the Summer Time” is also registering campers for summer programs. American Girl summer program to be held at Hill Hold Museum Campbell Hall — The Hill Hold Museum will host its ninth annual “The Friends of Girls in American History” this summer. All girls ages 7 to 12 are invited to journey back in history and experience life in the past, and of course share laughter and friendship, in an authentic school house each week for a themed-story featuring an American Girl character, a lesson, an activity or craft and a friendship party which always includes snacks from the past. The eight week program begins on June 30 and continues to Aug. 18. All classes are on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. Space is limited, due to a class size of 8 to 10.
