    Theatre company to host summer acting workshops for teens MONROE — Creative Theatre-Muddy Water Players will offer acting workshops for 13 to 18-year-old performers in August at The Playhouse at Museum Village in Monroe. The first week is called “Acting Skills and Character Development” and will run Aug. 2 to 6. The focus is on both acting and building auditioning skills. The second week is called “Musical Theatre Scene Study” and will run Aug. 9 to 13. The focus emphasizes development in musical theatre. The workshops run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and work toward the preparation of various scenes that conclude with a Friday evening performance. St. Paul’s to offer vacation bible school in August Monroe — St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monroe will hold its annual vacation bible school Aug. 9 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Eligible children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1 up through entering sixth grade. This year’s theme is “Sonquest Rainforest - Follow Jesus on a Life Changing Adventure.” There is no fee but donations are accepted. Night-time vacation bible school camp in August Goshen — This year St. James Episcopal Church is doing an evening vacation bible school. The program, God Rocks! Starlight Rescue, will run Aug. 2 to 6, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The “Star Cadets” will begin each evening with a light meal at Mission Control (parish hall) where they will get the day’s mission (skit performed by teen crew leaders). Then, each crew will rotate through a variety of stations: Crater Crafts, Galaxy Games, Starlight Theater and the Moon Ray Music Studio. College bookstore introduces new textbook database Middletown — The SUNY Orange Bookstore recently unveiled a new textbook pricing database that will help students get a handle on their potential textbook costs each semester by allowing them to view the textbook requirements of their courses along with the price of each book. The database is part of the newly designed bookstore Web site, which also allows students to buy their books online. The textbook pricing database can be found under the “Buy Course Materials” link at www.sunyorangebookstores.com.
