Woodbury Police arrest seven in drug bust

Harriman - Following a nearly three-month investigation into narcotics sales conducted in cooperation with the New York State Police Narcotics Unit, the Woodbury Police Department seven people early Saturday morning, June 18, on various drug charges. According to a press release under the signature of Sgt. Clifford Weeks, police executed a search warrant on a room located at the American Budget Inn on Locey Lane in the Town of Woodbury. Woodbury Police were assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Village of Harriman Police and Village of Monroe Police. The seven people were arrested on various charges, ranging from criminal sale of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and conspiracy. The warrant execution also yielded 8.9 grams of cocaine, a moderate amount of marijuana, more than $2,100 in cash, an electronic scale, glassine baggies, drug sale business cards and related drug packaging paraphernalia, according to Weeks. Two of the seven defendants were sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of 25,000 cash bail and 50,000 bond. The five others were issued appearance tickets and are due to return to court at a later date. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected, Weeks said.
