Were Monroe primaries a glimpse of what's to come'
To the editor: I was extremely upset to here the breakdown of the recent Republican and Democratic primaries. As someone who follows local politics, it obvious what the town of Monroe has known for a long time - that our current town board is owned by the village of Kiryas Joel as evidenced by the fact that 76 percent of Peter Martin's votes and 77 percent of Donald Weeks' votes came from the village of KJ. What's even more troubling is that suddenly the Democrat's candidate for supervisor, Ms. Alicia Vaccaro, received nearly 40 percent of her votes from the village of KJ. Is this a glimpse of what is to come? The only candidates that seem to stand their ground and not deal for votes in KJ is Parrella, Budich and Purdy. This just reinforces how important it is that the people in the town of Monroe come out in November and let their voices finally be heard. Brenda Mercurio Monroe
