To the editor: It is with a great sense of pride for our town and with a sense of accomplishment that I seek your support in my candidacy for the position of Monroe town councilman. I am a lifelong resident of Monroe and retired so am able to devote a significant amount of my time to address and serve the needs of the town and its constituents. I have listened to town residents and know that many of you are concerned with taxes, growth, open space, traffic and affordable housing. Collectively with the other town board members, I have worked diligently to keep Monroe’s town tax the second lowest in Orange County, attain 300+ acres of new parkland, provide boating on Round Lake, improve and expand the Dial-A-Bus system, negotiate the purchase of the Monroe Hills water district forming it into Water District #12 and upgrade our town roads along with the installation of new sidewalks and curbs, to name a few. During my past years of service, I have come to know well and work favorably with the elected and appointed officials and agencies of the state and county. As a part of the Town of Monroe, I continue to work with your town, county and state officials to address citizens’ quality of life issues. I take great pride in my service to the community. As an experienced town council member, I seek your re-election support on Nov. 8 and ask your help to communicate and collaborate on challenges that face us in the years to come. Donald F.
