Volunteers needed to teach English

    ORANGE COUNTY-Literacy Volunteers of Western Orange County is seeking people willing and able to donate time to the many students waiting for a teacher. Those who understand and speak English are taught to read and write the language. Speakers of other languages are taught to understand, speak, read and write in English. The fall workshop, including ten hours of meeting time and several hours of home preparation, will begin with orientation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at the office in Southwinds, 70 Fulton Street in Middletown. A literacy conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Polais Room in Southwinds (continental breakfast and lunch provided), and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 (lunch provided).
