Two Monroe residents to be honored at May 11 Girl Scout/YWCA dinner

New Windsor - Tickets are still available for the 19th annual Orange County Tribute to Women of Achievement award dinne, hosted by Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA Orange County, which honors Monroe residents Florence Blueglass Hannes and Cecille Jones as well as others. The dinner will be held Wednesday, May 11 at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor. The award, which has been presented to nearly 190 women from throughout Orange County since its inception in 1992, recognizes women who live, work, volunteer, or go to school in Orange County who have made a difference in the community through their professional, personal, or school-based activities. The honorees are: Education - Florence Blueglass Hannes, Monroe, SUNY Orange. Communications - Cecille Jones, Monroe, Orange & Rockland Utilities. Health and Human Services - Maureen Torelli, Goshen, Glen Arden. Arts - Donna Halll, Walden, New York School of Music and Rock Camp USA. Business - Trish Fisher, Stormville, Greater Newburgh YMCA. Public Service - Karen Van Houten Minogue, Highlands, Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan. Woman of the Future - Aisling Cuffe, Cornwall, Cornwall High School. Bobbie A. Lahey Memorial Award for Volunteer Services - Dr. Michelle Winchester Vega, Newburgh/New Windsor. The honorees will be profiled in a video feature produced by Mount Media, a Mount Saint Mary College student production group, during the dinner. Tickets are $75 in advance and $80 at the door.
