MONROE-Two officers were injured Saturday night as they and other officers quelled a fight in an alley on Lake Street next to Town Court. At about 1 a.m. on Oct. 1, Monroe Police received a call about a disorderly person at a downtown bar. That person and the group he was with had already left by the time officers arrived. But in checking the area, the officers discovered a group of between 15 to 20 people fighting in the alley on Lake Street. According to police, Brian K. Deloughery shoved one of the officers who was trying to break up the melee. When he was advised that he was under arrest, police said Deloughery began to violently fight with arresting officers. Meanwhile, the crowd grew hostile toward the arresting officers, who called for backup from several surrounding agencies. Deloughery was eventually taken into custody, but two Monroe officers were injured - one with a sprained wrist and the other with an injured shoulder. While Deloughery was in the back of a police car and officers were attempting to disperse the crowd, Deloughery kicked out two rear windows of the police car. After the arrival of several more police officers, the crowd was dispersed. Deloughery was taken to headquarters where he was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a Violation. He was sent to Orange County Jail on $5,000 bail. Both injured officers were treated at the Arden Hill campus of Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen and will be out until they are cleared to return, police said.
