Two Latina Dems honored as rising stars

Monroe — Karen Mejia and Juana Leandry-Torres, members of The Latino Democratic Committee of Orange County, have been recognized as New York’s 40 Under 40 Rising Latino Stars. They join 38 other young Latino leaders selected by The Hispanic Coalition to highlight their accomplishments and achievements in the New York Region and for making the state a better place for everyone. Mejia is the deputy district representative for Congressman Maurice Hinchey in Orange and Sullivan Counties and a community organizer in the City of Newburgh. Juana Leandry-Torres is a community organizer and a former partnership specialist for Census 2010 in the Hudson Valley.
