During the holidays, many local organizations collect donations of toys for the children of families in need, so that no child goes without something special under the tree. For a child who has special needs, Inspire, officially the Orange County Cerebral Palsy Association, has a few tips for you to consider when buying toys for children with disabilities. A link to a free copy of “Let’s Play: A Guide to Toys for Children with Special Needs” by the American Foundation for the Blind can be found at www.inspirecp.org. In addition to the annual toy drive by the Monroe Police Department, here are other places to contribute: •The Town of Goshen Police Department will accept new, unwrapped toys at their police headquarters located at 44 Police Drive, in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps. Toy donations may be made during regular business hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. •Coldwell Banker Currier & Lazier Realtor, in conjunction with the United States Marine Corps, is holding their annual Toys for Tots collection. To put a smile on a child’s face this holiday season, drop new and unwrapped toys at 791 Route 17M in Monroe. Call 782-5151. •Harriman Auto will act as a drop off facility for collecting new unwrapped toys for boys and girls for the United States Marine Corps drive for Toys For Tots.
