Highland Mills - The following comes from the monthly electronic newsletter published by Woodbury Town Councilman James Skoufis: Local Government The Highway Department recently announced their 2011 road repairs schedule. With most improvements planned to be done in the summer months after school has closed, the following are set to be worked on this year: Schunnemunk Road, Owens Drive, Abrams Road, Woodland Terrace, Clove Place, Coffee Street, Dennis Drive, and most of the roads in the Greens of Woodbury. Estrada Road Update: The new bridge is nearing completion and should be open to traffic in a matter of weeks. The affected residents have no doubt had their patience tested during the engineering and construction processes - thank you for being accommodating over the past many months. Supervisor John Burke recently compiled a report showing that the Town of Woodbury received over $500,000 in 2010 in grants and contributions to offset the tax burden. This number includes money for energy efficiency upgrades, improvements to the courthouse and library, road reparation, and policing Woodbury Common, among other things. Clerk Desiree Potvin, Supervisor Burke, and the various department heads and town board put in a great deal of time and effort, as they always do, to find ways to bring in money to Woodbury and save taxpayer dollars.
