The Monroe Free Library celebrates fall on Saturday, Oct. 30

Monroe - On Saturday, Oct. 30, the Monroe Free Library is sponsoring Fall Fest, a free family event open to everyone that begins at 2 p.m. The headliner will be the juggling, fire-eating, sword-swallowing Dave Smith,who will perform at 4 p.m. A petting zoo and pony rides will be on site from 2 until 3:30 p.m. The fun ends at 5 p.m. Nearly a dozen free activities (such as pumpkin bowling and bobbing for doughnuts) will be held on the lawn of The Book Garden, the used bookstore adjacent to the library. Cider and doughnuts will be free while supplies last and library teenagers will sell water. Parents are invited to bring cameras. Other activities will include Halloween golf, knock-the-cans-down, face-painting, temporary tattoos and Halloween crafts led by library staff. Melissa Quarles, head of Children’s Services for the library, said the staff is “planning to have so much fun, kids will be hard pressed to do everything!”
