The George Grant Mason School holds annual spelling bee
Tuxedo - The George Grant Mason School held its much anticipated annual school spelling bee on March 30. Students in grades 4-6 first took part in classroom bees in which four finalists were picked from each grade level. Twelve finalists from the classroom bees competed in the final bee. Words were selected from the Scripps National Spelling Bee study guides. The final four winners for the 2011 Spelling Bee are: Kaitlyn Brown, Grade 4, (First Place); Jeffrey Qiu, Grade 5 (Second Place); Anika Maurer, Grade 4 (Third Place); and Madeline Gedvila, Grade 5 (Fourth Place). The winning words were “anguished” and “forlorn.” The winners received gift certificates to Borders, thanks to the efforts of the Tuxedo PTO.
