The case for Judge Levinson

To the editor: As a lifelong registered Republican, it is rare that I have ever endorsed a Democratic candidate for any office. The only exception I have made for the past 28 years is to support the candidacy of our Woodbury Town Justice, David L. Levinson. I am proud that David continues to serve as our Town Justice. His dedication, judicial expertise and devotion are well known to all who have entered his court room. His court in particular has been recognized by prosecutors and defense attorneys alike as one where firmness and fairness prevail. He tolerates no nonsense in his court room or crimes against our residents. He has been very sensitive to domestic violence issues and has demonstrated a keen sense of knowledge in dealing with troubled youths. What is most remarkable in this day and age when elected officials tend to shirk from their responsibilities, Judge Levinson remains available to our town police department and state police at all hours, day and night, to provide prompt arraignments so that the officers can return to their patrols to safeguard us all. Years ago Judge Levinson designed a program of community service where offenders "volunteer" to do work for our community in lieu of sentencing. Judge Levinson's court is efficient and very well run and he has the complete loyalty of his exceptional court staff. The residents of the Town of Woodbury should be proud of Judge Levinson's accomplishments. His experience as our judge is even more vital now as a result of the sudden and untimely passing of his long time friend and co-justice, Edward Kellman. I urge all voters, Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives and independents to continue their support of Judge Levinson and to enable him to continue his untiring efforts on behalf of us all. Woodbury really needs him more than ever. Very truly yours, Francis Reynolds Central Valley
