MONROE-Monroe Police arrested a 17-year-old Monroe teen Monday in connection with the theft of more than $1,000 of electronic equipment from a home on Newbury Street last October. The burglary took place on Oct. 27. Among the items reported stolen were a Dell laptop computer, Sony Playstation video games and DVDs. The homeowner also reported that clothing was missing. In making the arrest Monday, police said they recovered some of the stolen property. The young man, who was not identified because he is eligible for youthful offender status, was charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned before Monroe Town Justice Jack J. Rosenthal and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. Police also acknowledged the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.
