Supporting Don Weeks for re-election

To the editor: There are times in the public process when experience, sincerity and concern count. These are such times. There is a man seeking office, who has held office for some time now, who exhibits those qualities and always acts with them in mind. Don Weeks certainly has the experience. He is a life-long resident of the Monroe community who was born and grew up here, worked here and raised a family here. He has seen this community evolve from a small farming and seasonal one to the one it now occupies as an important part of both Orange County and New York State. He has sat on the Monroe Town Board for many years and has always acted by drawing on that experience. That is something that is irreplaceable. More importantly, Don Weeks has the sincerity and care about the people of Monroe that should shape any local official’s actions and attitudes. He is constantly monitoring the conditions in Monroe and talking to its citizens and hearing their concerns and worries. He carries those cares and concerns into the Board room on every occasion. These are rare qualities in a local political official. The Town of Monroe has been well served by Don Weeks and will continue to be well served in the future with his presence on the Town Board. The cry for “new blood” that has been bandied about by some who don’t know him is poorly put in the case of Don Weeks. His blood runs deep in Monroe and is special. Please think carefully and vote for Don Weeks in this upcoming election. Sincerely, John Maraia Business manager IBEW 363, Harriman
