Support for Kathy Parrella

To the editor: Three years ago, seeing a need for residents to have a place to go to learn more about the planning and development of their towns, Kathy Parrella and I co-founded a community advocacy group, The Preservation Collective. The purpose of this organization is to raise public awareness and help residents become more involved in the planning of their towns. We were proud to be able to work with the Town of Chester to bring a referendum before the voters so they could decide whether or not to purchase open space and save one of Orange County’s most beautiful scenic vistas from development. When the townspeople voted 2-to-1 in favor of the purchase, it stood as a prime example of what a government and its residents can accomplish when they work together. Kathy Parrella’s positive spirit and commitment to making that happen is undeniable. It is that kind of dedication and ability that the Town of Monroe needs. Her knowledge of land use, zoning and environmental protection is exactly what Monroe must have if they are going to protect themselves from over-development in the future. I would encourage everyone in Monroe to look for Row D on Tuesday and vote for Kathy Parrella for Town Council of Monroe. Tracy Schuh Monroe
