State police charge Monroe man with stabbing girlfriend

    MONROE-State Police at Monroe arrested a 25-year-old Village of Monroe resident last Sunday on charges he assaulted his girlfriend. Hospital officials from the Arden Hill campus of Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen called State Police on Sunday, May 22, to report they had treated a 28-year-old woman for a stab wound to the thigh and other non-life threatening wounds. Police said the investigation revealed the victim had an argument with Emmanuel Martinez-Morales, her boyfriend, who subsequently fled the scene. Martinez-Morales was located later in the Village of Monroe, interviewed at the State Police barracks in Monroe, and subsequently arrested. He was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned before Justice Morton Marshak and sent to Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
